The SDC announces the Future Textile Dyers Fund

The SDC has announced the launch of a new Future Textile Dyers Fund.

Following collaborative discussions with the Worshipful Company of Dyers covering sector skills the Society of Dyers and Colourists will provide funding of up to 60% of the course fees for those studying the SDC’s Foundation Textile Coloration Certificate (FTCC) and Textile Coloration Certificate (TCC). The funding is available for UK based course participants.

The courses form part of SDC’s Colour Education Pathway and are a vital part of ensuring the ongoing skills development of those in the textile coloration industry. The requirement for highly-skilled textile dyers and printers has never been more important. The fund allows businesses to extend their capabilities, increase flexibility and develop new skills within the UK.

The FTCC and TCC are well-established within industry, providing the skills development for those involved in dyeing. These qualifications are offered by the world’s only coloration charity able to award Chartered Colourist status. They are overseen by the SDC’s Examinations, Qualifications and Accreditation Board, which has responsibility for overseeing all of the SDC’s courses and qualifications.

Enquire now!
The SDC is now welcoming applications to the courses, with a deadline of 31st August 2020 for a start date in October 2020.

UK based companies involved in the coloration of textiles, looking to develop one or more employees are invited to email [email protected] to discuss further.

The SDC is closely monitoring the impact on industry of the Covid-19 outbreak. With this in mind, increased funding is available for unemployed learners with relevant backgrounds. Individuals in this situation are encouraged to get in touch with the SDC.

The courses are delivered through the Colour Network (https://colour.network/), the SDC’s online learning platform. They are part-time and designed to fit with individuals’  employment and personal life. The virtual learning platform provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills and gives access to a network of members, enabling students to build their own peer groups.

Foundation Textile Coloration Certificate
The FTCC provides an introduction to the chemistry involved in textile coloration. It is open to learners from diverse educational backgrounds enabling them to develop their knowledge of dyeing and textiles. This one-year introductory course equips learners with the knowledge and skills needed to embark on the TCC. The FTCC costs £1,605 with funding of up to 60% now available.

Textile Coloration Certificate
The TCC reveals the fundamental processes and scientific principles behind the coloration of textiles. This two-year course provides the perfect stepping stone to SDC’s UK honours degree level ASDC. The TCC costs £5,350 with funding of up to 60% now available.

The SDC is very grateful to have developed this support in conjunction with the Worshipful Company of Dyers who have been ensuring the sector is skilled and qualified for over 500 years.
