Originally hailing from Darford, Laura started her career in ‘Shoe business’ in the late 70’s as Secretary to the Sales and Marketing Director at Start-rite Shoes Ltd. At that time they had nearly 800 retailers and a Norwich factory. Laura then moved into the Advertising team creating display material and shop interiors for retailers for nearly 11 years.
Laura has been married to ‘shoe man’ Nick for 27 years (his father was a partner in the oldest shoe shop in the country – Kennedys of Canterbury. Whilst on maternity leave she was asked whether she would put life back into The Society of Shoe Fitters (SSF) – it had under £2,000 left. Laura ran the organisation for 15 years until Nick asked her to set up Geox UK offices
Eleven years ago, Laura was made a Fellow of the SSF and so the rest as they say is history!
She have run the organisation for 26 years – so a total of 37 years in the footwear industry.
