ASBCI Visit to Lectra Bordeaux 2012

Lectra, the specialist in integrated fashion technology solutions and a premier member of the ASBCI for several years, was delighted to host their second unique overseas technical visit to other ASBCI members.

Following last year’s successful visit, the purpose of the event was to show leading UK clothing companies Lectra’s range of collection development solutions and how they are constantly being innovated to be in-line with the changing needs of the fashion industry.

During the visit, participants saw demonstrations on how industry specific design, 3D prototyping,  product development, and manufacturing solutions, together with consultancy from industry experts, could help apparel companies to streamline their processes.

This year the event focused on challenges faced by fashion companies, especially around collaboration between design and development teams, as well as achieving the perfect fit for garments within tight deadlines.

Technology highlights included Modaris V7®, Lectra’s pattern making, grading and 3D virtual prototyping solution that improves fit, reduces the number of physical prototypes and ensures the best Return on Investment. This was of interest to all participants as fit is a crucial factor in a garment’s success or failure and because of the high cost of physical samples.

Visitors also saw how Lectra Fashion PLM integrates the entire collection development process on a  collaborative platform resulting in greater productivity and profitability.

“The Lectra visit was interesting, informative and stimulating.  It was a great opportunity to see cutting edge technology and also provided food for thought resulting in a review of our own processes and procedures.  I will definitely be following up on this” said Ian Sime, Director of Supply Chain, J Barbour & Sons Ltd.

“We see great value in discussing the industry’s changing needs with our clients and were honoured to be able to share Lectra’s vision of the fashion industry. It is so important to get direct feedback on what customers’ key challenges are, and to discuss solutions that could help fashion companies streamline their processes and to become as profitable as possible” said Mark Lyness,  Managing Director, Lectra UK.

Due to the positive feedback and interest from attendees, Lectra is considering holding another event in 2013 for ASBCI members.
