Robin is a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK, and has an MBA in Management Science from the University of Warwick. His career spans seven years in home textiles and weaving factories with Courtaulds, seven years as director of the BSc course in Textile Economics and Management at the University of Manchester and seven years at The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) where he was invited to establish and develop a textile industry business publishing division.

In 1992 he founded the business information company Textiles Intelligence as a spin-off from the EIU and became managing director, a position he holds today. Textiles Intelligence publishes: a bimonthly business information publication, Textile Outlook International; three quarterly publications, Global Apparel Markets, Performance Apparel Markets and Technical Textile Markets; and four monthly bulletins, Global Apparel Update, Home Textiles Update, Performance Apparel Update, Technical Textiles Business Update.

As well as his role in Textiles Intelligence, Robin Anson writes for textile and apparel publications, speaks frequently at textile industry conferences around the world, and is a commentator on textile industry issues in the financial press and on radio and television. He was recently invited to be a special advisor to the BBC in connection with an update of the 1970s documentary series All Our Working Lives about the UK textile industry.
