Northern Design Centre, Hawks Road, Gateshead, NE8 3DF
Tuesday, 20th March - 09:00 - 12:00

Join us for our next Northern Clothing and Textile Network event and hear from leading textile and clothing specialists on some of the latest cutting-edge technologies and exciting developments shaping the future of the sector.

Confirmed speakers so far include:

Simon Middleton, Managing Director, Blackshore Southwold Ltd

Simon will tell us the story behind the foundation of his brand Blackshore Southwold Ltd., which started at the window table of a cafe down on the harbour of Suffolk. Simon will also talk us through the exciting journey his brand's gone, right from its foundation until nowadays and he will share some invaluable real-life examples from his experience.

Taking inspiration from the fishermen and boat builders, and from their very own adventures along the coastlines of Suffolk and Norfolk, Simon and his friend Andy created the definitive British coastal clothing brand for men who seek premium, British-made casual clothing of timeless style. Supporting the resurgence of British manufacturing, their entire collection is designed and made in Britain.

Sally Smallwood, Chief Wreckre8tor, Wreckreation

Sally Smallwood is Chief designer, clothing fabricator and pattern producer at Wreckreation, a custom fashion studio based in the North of England.

Sally will take us through the story and passion behind the brand, and Wreckreation's mission:

- To create long-lasting, hard-wearing items.

- To be creators and not the created.

- To question everything and to stand up for what we believe in.

Martin Sofranko, Assyst Bulmer

Assyst Bulmer, based in Wakefield have been leaders in cutting technology for almost forty years. As well as their advanced cutting equipment, used on everything from textiles and upholstery to Kevlar and carpets, their design software can take you from initial sketches to graded patterns and even a 3d visualisation showing how the fabric drapes.

Martin will be sharing some of these advanced techniques and more in this design masterclass.
