How would you describe the colour of something? Everyone describes colour differently, which is why colour measurement is so important.
Matt Russell will talk about colour measurement. Although you may be familiar with CIE L*a*b*, there is much more to colour measurement and many other options available. Many industries utilise other established and successful colour evaluation systems optimised for their requirements. This lecture will reinforce what you may already know about colour and introduce some new concepts. Matt will talk about why you might want to measure colour, he'll touch on light source, object and observer, and will explain the key concepts of CIE L*a*b*. But that's not all. He will also introduce transmission colour measurement of edible oils, fragrance, petroleum, pharmaceuticals etc, scales and standards, plus measuring Lovibond RYBN, visual and automatic.
Speaker: Matt Russell is International Sales Manager – Colour, The Tintometer Ltd. He is a colour control expert with over 20 years’ experience of solving problems all around the globe. Matt has a BSc (Honours), Chemistry from the University of Manchester, an MSc in Textile Design Technology and Design Management, UMIST (now University of Manchester). He has worked for a number of companies related directly to the Colour Measurement Industry including GretagMacbeth, X-Rite and The Tintometer Ltd.
