The ASBCI's 2023 Annual General Meeting will take place on 22nd March 2023 and will take place at The Piece Hall in Halifax.

We are delighted to inform members that for the first time in 3 years we will be holding our AGM in person – although there will also be the option to connect digitally on Zoom.

As in previous years, the Chairmen of our various committees will give their reports, and we are really pleased that following these there will be a short presentation from our guest speaker and reciprocal member, David Reay from the Northern Clothing & Textile Network.  David has had a lifelong career in the international garment industry, working across the globe from East to West, from Shanghai to Casablanca, Beijing to LA, gathering a lifetime of knowledge and contacts along the way.

We are holding the AGM this year in the historic Grade 1 Listed Piece Hall in Halifax, and this is a unique opportunity for members to see first-hand this amazing building.  Dating from 1779, and the sole survivor of eighteenth century northern cloth halls which traded off ‘pieces‘ of cloth (a 30 yard length of woven woollen fabric produced on a handloom), The Piece Hall was the most ambitious and prestigious building of its type and is truly iconic.

Re-opened on 1 August 2017, The Piece Hall is now an award-winning contemporary leisure, retail, cultural and heritage destination with a treasure trove of independent shops, restaurants and bars surrounding the huge open-air courtyard.

The AGM is scheduled to start at 2pm and a buffet lunch will be available for those attending from 1pm.

For those wanting to attend, please email your preference to attend in person or via a Zoom link ASAP to [email protected]

The train station in Halifax is opposite The Piece Hall and for those travelling by car, the best car park to use is the one at Eureka which is just below the train station, and opposite our original offices in the mill that we had to vacate after the fire.
