The Lycra Company launches Top Comfort fibre
The Top Comfort fibre was following consumer research carried out by Walnut in 2024 that found that three of the top 10 criteria for sheer hosiery were related to the waistband, with consumers wanting waistbands that are not too tight or dig in, and don’t slip or roll down.
The new waistband has been designed to accommodate different body shapes and allows for an invisible waistline, smooth silhouette and reduced red marks.
‘We developed the Lycra Top Comfort fibre to meet market demand and set new high standards for secure fit and waistband comfort,’ said Sybille Bald, strategic marketing director for legwear at The Lycra Company. ‘In wear tests, eight out of 10 consumers preferred pantyhose that used Lycra Top Comfort fibre.
In addition to fulfilling consumer requirements, the Lycra Company reports that the new fibre has good dye uptake and color fastness and can be knitted with low tense and to precise target waistband dimensions, thereby increasing efficiency.
