Freudenberg implements ZDHC at Sant’Omero competence centre

Freudenberg’s new Apparel Competence Centre in Sant’Omero, Italy has implemented ZDHC guidelines in its production process as part of a comprehensive audit and its commitment to protecting people and the environment.

The facility, which opened in May 2023 and coats and finishes nonwoven, woven, and weft interlinings for European customers, has completed the 4sustainability Chemical Management protocol (4s CHEM), which aims to progressively eliminate toxic and hazardous chemicals and related risks throughout the production process.

To achieve certification, Freudenberg called in experts from Process Factory, a consultancy that specialises in sustainability. With its support, the site reached the advanced level of the 4s CHEM protocol in line with the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero programme.

‘The 4s CHEM implementation proves once again that we not only stand for premium quality, but also for products that meet the highest sustainability standards,’ said Christian Cavaletti, director of operations apparel Europe. ‘In addition, it shows that we are serious about our responsibility for people and the environment.’
