The panel will explore the role wool can play now and in the future addressing questions such as: Will Covid provide an opportunity for the fashion and textile industry to re-set, and can wool provide an answer to the sustainability issue the industry is facing? How can wool’s inherent and sometimes unexpected qualities provide innovative solutions in other product areas. Following the panel discussion, attendees will be invited to put questions to the panel.

The Worshipful Company of Woolmen is one of the oldest of the livery companies of the City of London, grown out of the ancient guild which regulated the wool trade. It is known to have existed in 1180 and was officially incorporated in 1522. Throughout its long years the Company has been immersed in the wool industry and this remains its most important activity. Today the company is now primarily a Charitable fellowship, providing scholarships for those studying wool technology, awarding an annual wool innovation prize, and providing prizes at some of the most famous national agricultural shows.
