The AGM will be held once again at Barnsdale Lodge in Leicestershire, close the wonderful and beautiful Rutland Water - it is always a great way for our members to come together. In addition to the REACH update and updates on the Association's performance from the ASBCI board, there will be a number of excellent guest speakers in the afternoon - not to be missed.
In addition to the formal items of the AGM, we have SIX excellent guest speakers, including a presentation of the winning 2017 ASBCI Student Dissertation Award, sponsored by Marks & Spencer plc.
Details are as follows:
Nick Worsnop, our Legal Director, and partner at Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors, will address the impending new legislation GDPR and its effect on our industry and each company.
Dan Bell, an IT Consultant from Biscuit, (and recommended by Chadwick Lawrence) will provide an overview on Cybercrime Security
Sally Blaxall, director from ASBCI member QHQ, will speak about the Key Recruitment Challenges for 2018,which will include Brexit uncertainty, the global job market place and how to encourage young technologists into the industry.
After lunch we are delighted that Tamara Cincik, Founder of Fashion Roundtable, will talk about the challenges and opportunities presented by Brexit for our industry. Fashion Roundtable is a unique not for profit organisation specialising in integrating the concerns and requirements of the fashion industry into mainstream UK and EU politics.
Marion Foster produces traditional hand tailored kilts, and has a fascinating presentation on ‘Tartan and the Kilt’ and their relationship in the modern world of art and fashion.
And finally, to round off an excellent day's proceedings, Jayne Sheridan, Fashion Writer/Lecturer, will briefly chart the links between her book ‘Fashion Media Promotion the new black magic’ and the television series that is in development, called ‘The Designer’. The threads of these ideas will be brought to life using video, fashion illustrations and music.
