We are delighted to advise that we will be running a new technical visit to James Heal, manufacturers and suppliers of textile testing instruments, materials, service and calibration based in Halifax - scheduled for Wednesday 21st February 2018.

We are offering members the option of either :

  • a morning session, from 10am to 12.30 (including lunch and coffee served on arrival), or
  • the afternoon session from 1.30pm to 4pm (including tea and coffee and snack ‘goody bag’ on departure)

Who is the visit for?

It's for anyone with an interest in clothing, manufacturing, testing or business. There will be an opportunity to visit lots of different departments around the business, and talk to a variety of experts in quality, design, engineering, testing and more, meaning there should be something to meet everyone's interests.

What will you learn?

You will get a behind the scenes view of a company that champions British manufacturing and puts innovation at the centre of everything they do. You will get the opportunity to see the processes behind instruments and test materials which are used in laboratories around the world to test the clothing you are wearing right now.

A tour around the building will include:

  • Laboratory - standard vs non-standard testing, an overview of the range of testing that is done on the garments we wear every day
  • Fitting Shop - a look at instruments which promote sustainability
